Rebellious Donkey or Thankful Sheep?
There is an authority greater than our parents, our pastors, police officers, firemen, soldiers, governors and presidents. Our parents did not come up with such rules as: be kind to your brother/sister, don't lie to Mommy and Daddy, don't take your friend's toys, don't hit your brother/sister/cousin/friend, listen to Daddy when he's speaking to you, do what Mommy says so you can learn good skills in taking care of your own family, go to church to learn about God, and study diligently to learn how to grow wisely. When I was leading a devotion with some cheerleaders in a local high school, I said this same thing to them because it occurred to me that teenagers may think these kind of rules originated with their own parents just to make their lives difficult! :) I tried to point out to the pretty young teens that ordinances such as: parents' instructions, speeding laws enforced by police officers, and safety rules firemen teach, are all biblical principles that h...
