Today's Jericho Walls Can Come Down, Too

Image
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, GOD made this PROMISE: "If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I WILL HEAL THEIR LAND."   That's absolutely awesome!   So in light of that hopeful promise, how many Christians in America must be transformed into passionate, on-fire prayer warriors in order for GOD to heal America? Think about it. First of all, there is a cost to become an intercessor for the glory of God and the good  of the world. We would have to willingly give up our agendas for God's will. A life of prayer is a lot work. It is a labor of love....for Christ, for His people, and the world. He has plans and purposes for all of creation and He loves to use willing servants of the LORD to accomplish HIS purposes. So I ask again: How many Christians will it take for us to see GOD fulfill this promise of "healing our land?" We have our own Jericho walls today. We ha...

I Cannot Keep Silent!

Image
"For Zion's sake I will not keep silent,  for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her s alvation like a blazing torch." (Isaiah 62:1-2)     My Father in heaven is blazing a new trail for me in my journey of  Reading-the-Whole-Bible-in-2013  program. Right now I'm in the book of Judges and I have tears in my eyes because I have the presence of the Holy Spirit in me and my heart and mind are responding to what I have been reading. It's grievous: Total Depravity then and Total Depravity now. And folks, I cannot keep silent. Hey! Someone please consider calling 911 because I have a fire in my heart! I love my Father in heaven, I love His people the church, I have a desire for the lost to be found. And I am seeing we're blinded by our pride. Lord have mercy on us all because I  KNOW there is a cure for such wickedness. I'm reading familiar verses in my daily  reading but...

Our Hearts: Christ-Centered or Self-Centered?

Image
At the beginning of 2013 our Pastor Doug Mulkey strongly urged every member to faithfully read the entire Bible in one year. He even had copies available of a carefully planned year-long reading program and it was  an easy-to-follow schedule printed on both sides of one sheet of paper. In addition, for those who enjoy technology, he suggested getting a cell phone app that also offered a year-long Bible reading program. He didn't want us to have any excuse for not having a schedule to follow so he also pointed us to an online reading program as well. I don't know about the rest of the church family but I have found this discipline very challenging to keep up with the reading program. I find that I love it. I need self-discipline. And I'm finding unexpected blessings from doing it. I'm seeing God's story in a new way. I'm being taken deeper into knowing who He is. Wow. There is no god like our God. No one. I have not only been sp...

They Turned Sweet Grapes into Sour Whine

Image
"...they are stronger than we are...and they spread a bad report..." Numbers 13:31-32   The LORD GOD Almighty was preparing to fufill a promise He made to His people. He told them they were about to enter into the land "flowing with milk and honey." He told Moses to send men to explore the land of Canaan (Numbers 13:1). These men were representatives of the tribes of Israel and were instructed to thoroughly explore the land, the inhabitants, the towns, the soil and even the fruit. (Numbers 13:17-19). The men discovered single clusters of grapes so large it took two men to carry one of them. There were also pomegranates and figs. Imagine that, God sent them into the land of promise and it was so fruitful that  even the size of the grape clusters was bountiful! Think of it. God was giving His people generous portions of rich foods and abundance in the land. Hmmmmm. And these are the same people who grumbled. Hmmmm. After 40 days of exploration o...

Logs of Regret in the Fire of My Soul

Image
My Father in heaven has kept a passionate fire burning in my soul in order for me to shine His light and make Him known. But this week, logs of regret have been thrown into the  fire of my soul. At first I thought it was the enemy wanting to destroy me by watching me agonize over regrets of my past. But what made this process so painful was that it was deep insight I didn't have before about past circumstances! It was a whole new  perspective! It could have been the enemy to bring this to my mind but I still believe in the sovereignty of God, so no matter where it came from  that painful thought process was ignited and it was meant for good because I am God's child. My God is a consuming fire and He wanted to consume the dross that was hidden deep down in the darkest places of my soul! That is what He has done for me today!   Years ago, when I was troubled about my lack of joy and grace in my life, and I was also concern...

Who Put the Lamp Under A Bowl?

Image
How much longer are we going to listen to the white noise of the devil's scratchy voice? The voice that tempts us to doubt God's goodness and His greatness. The same voice that says we are better caretakers of our lives; that we need to be our own gods. It's a self-centered lifestyle instead of a God-centered life. It happened in the garden of Eden with the devil (serpent) and Eve. (Genesis 3) We were created to worship something, and our enemy knows this. When we worship something other than Almighty God we head toward captivity, America! How long are we going to believe his lies?  He tucks us into our comfort zones each day because we believe his deceitful whispers that tells us to back off from serving God because we're too tired, or too sick, or too poor, or too overwhelmed, or too unqualified, or too sinful  to stand up and radiantly shine the light of Christ? What has happened to U.S.? Have we given up or j...

An Anxiety Attack on the Body of Christ

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Was there a lot of joy in your Christmas holidays or was it more like every day was a Black Friday for you? Were your days filled with Christmas chatter or Christmas cheer? When you went Christmas shopping did you also buy the lie that “frenzy” is the norm when we are celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ? Phrases like “Christmas Rush” were coined decades ago but it seems the worldly influences are overtaking the body of Christ in America – as a nation. It’s almost like we’re not recognizable as “light” much anymore. We are acting like the world!   Who it is who is telling you if you don’t buy the latest, greatest technology gadget, you are a bad parent? Who told you if your eight-year old doesn’t have a personal cell phone you don’t love your child? When did all this anxiety stuff become constant companions of Christian Americans? Why is it increasing? A few years ago in a Bible study we read a chapter that discussed worldliness and a woman said, “Why d...
