Why Is It So Difficult For US to Tell People GOOD NEWS?

Image
After God changes our hearts and saves us, He commissions us. He tells us to go tell the Good News of His life, His death and His resurrection on behalf of His people. Not one Christian is exempt from this commission. (Not to mention that He promises His people "abundant life" (John 10:10) as well.) But it is an assignment that is a privilege and an honor because we are called to tell others Good News. Why would anyone hesitate to tell someone else Good News? It's a simple task. Everyone, I think, would love to hear GOOD news. Right? Hey, I have been in the writing media for a l-o-n-g time and news that sells the most newspapers and magazines is news that's not-so-good. Don't believe me? What are the cover stories of the magazines and newspapers in your grocery store check out lines? Answer: People's personal tragedies, whether they're true or not. Right? The REAL Church Lady Is Not Uptight, She's Upright!

The very talented actor Dana Carvey created and played a character on the long-running TV show, Saturday Night Live. He called her the Church Lady because she was created out of his childhood observations of women he saw on Sundays at church. These women obviously left a strong impression on him that they were very uptight, critical and frankly, perfectionists with stiff, pharisical personalities. They believed it was a weakness to let anyone know they struggled with anything. That is not a R...

Image
After our daughter Grace graduated from Brenau University with highly trained musical talents of vocal performance and piano, she told us she was going to Hollywood, CA. She was riveted on getting there due a call from God to shine the light of Christ in Hollywood -- in hopes of making a difference with her God-given gifts and talents. I believe Grace, a Georgia Girl, has gone to Hollywood as an actress to bring Christ to Center Stage! She planned to begin her new journey by enrolling as a student at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, and in two years she graduated with a M.A. in Worship Arts. She was ready to get a 'church job' and began praying for opportunities to audition. God opened the door for her to appear in more than 80 prime time TV show episodes as a 'background' actor. She has been a runway model and has been able to use her singing, playing and dancing talents in musicals in small Hollywood theaters. Her flame has been fanned and her passion to...
