child-like faith makes us like superheroes

For years I've seen the young children in our neighborhood usually run instead of walk...everywhere! They would run across their own yard into the next one with joy, energy, and expectation of a new adventure of their day. The little boys usually had on Superhero costumes and played all kind of imaginary games confidently overcoming evil. Hmmmm. They stood up to evil, and always won! Hmmmm.

Maybe that was because they saw themselves covered with some kind of power that was unstoppable. Hmmmm. And these are the same children who didn't wonder if their Mom would have lunch for them when they ran back into their houses. 

And they never wondered if their Dad or Mom would instinctively buy them a new pair of shoes because they were having another growth spurt.

And I'll bet, when the children next door ran into their house to get a snack and yelled, "Mom! I'm hungry! Can I have some chips?" they never doubted there would be food for them to eat, any time they needed nourishment. 

Why am I saying all of this? This is child-like faith. These children are free to laugh and run and giggle and play without worrying if their needs are going to be met. They trust their parents to take care of them...in every way.

They're little children and all they know is Dad and Mom provide for them. Little children don't give it a second thought! 

Hmmmm. Child-like faith. We adult Christians should be seeing our Father in Heaven the same way! We should be living in freedom, expressing love, joy, energy, vitality, and bringing glory to God because we trust Him to take care of us.

The passage of Scripture that beautifully describes child-like faith is found in Matthew 6:25-33. Wow. Jesus says that we're not to worry about food, drink, clothing, or even our lives! Jesus says, "...your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:32-33.

Child-like faith is total freedom to live for the glory and will of God with reckless abandon! How do we do that? Just like a Superhero, we have to believe in the covering and protection of the power of the Holy Spirit, the blood of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins, and the sovereign will of our Heavenly Father! 

And one more thing, child-like faith is not immature faith. It is the doorway to living in freedom...just like a Superhero who has a holy supernatural covering and is "always going around doing good." (Acts 10:38). 

We are the body of Christ.

We are the light of the world.

We do not do this alone.
