For such a time as this: Savor the Savior

The God who made the world and everything in it
is the Lord of heaven and earth...from one man He made every nation of men,
that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times
set for them and the exact places they should live...".
Acts 17:24-26

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic that first broke out in mid-2019 has created absolute chaos as its inhabitants believe the world is now spinning out of control. It's not the world that's out of control. It's the people.

The world rapidly became a global warzone since the first case of the now-dreaded Corona Virus was diagnosed in the fall of 2019. However, it has stormed into 2020 as a relentless pandemic.

Yep. Basically all hell has broken loose and the new invisible enemy has freakish side effects: fear, anxiety, worry, hoarding, anger, sickness, death, widespread unemployment, depression, brokenness, rage, businesses folding, political wars in America, and oh, so much more. It's a new kind of invisible enemy that has affected the entire planet with these side effects.

Yep. We're experiencing upheaval, that so far, has lasted well into the spring of 2020. We're not literally in the dark, but there are days it feels like it. So much is unknown as the local and national lifestyle guidelines are ever changing as the medical field studies the untamed virus. Quarantine. Shelter-in-Place. Nationwide school closings. Our governmental instructions to stop the tsunami from taking more lives are dramatically changing daily.

So what is a child of God supposed to do with so much upheaval? We look to God. We learn how to savor the Savior. That's what we do. He is our Hope. This is His world. He created it. He created all things. He has all authority. So when we look to God we pray and ask Him to help and heal.

He promises, "If My people who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14.

When we finally turn our backs on all the ongoing, negative chatter, it will be because we have discovered it hinders us, not helps us. And when we turn our hearts to Him and learn how to savor His love and greatness we'll learn for ourselves He is our Hope, Healer, Protector, Provider, and the Lover of our souls. We'll quickly be reminded when we pray He is the One who moves mountains that trouble us.

We have to fall in love with who He is and learn to find peace in Him. Focus on His promises and His word and find strength to overcome with HOPE. Then reach out to others whose hearts have been ravaged with fear, lack, and sickness, during this pandemic.

The blood of Jesus is our vaccine against hopelessness. There is no greater power than the blood of the risen Savior. We must savor the Savior with everything that is in us to find the hope we are all longing for.

How do you savor the Savior? One definition of savor is "enjoy." You know, like, "The joy of the LORD is my strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). Hey, who doesn't need more strength in this fight of faith? Some of us need to get a new mindset of faith by changing the way we think about this unpredictable season. The day will come when God will be asking each one of us these kinds of questions, "What did you do with the gifts, talents, and abilities I gave you? Did you hoard them or did you multiply them with your love for Me and your love for people everywhere?"

For those of us with troubled hearts, why don't we start today with the mindset and commitment to learn to truly savor the Savior?   "Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:16).

So tell me why I should Savor the Savior for such a time as this?  This is a controlled worldwide virus! Yes, it truly is. The world is not out of control. Some people are. Here's proof:
"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being. As some of your poets have said, 'We are His offspring'" (Acts 17:24-28).

I choose to keep learning how to totally delight myself in Him, savor Him and thank Him for being the Highest and Kindest Authority of all. I am one of His offspring and the HOPE I'm looking for comes from Him. There is no one else who can do what He can do.

Gratefully His,
