THIS Song for Such a Time as THIS

Image
It's May 2020 and it sure does seem like the world has been turned upside down. But maybe God is seeing fit to turn it right-side up! There seems to be no end to major tragedies worldwide from the global pandemic to job loss and loss of life. However, God is still in control and He is having His way with all of us for His  purposes, His glory, and all for our good. And it really is for our good whether we believe it or not, because He is good. He is very good. And most of all He is very kind. The best place to be in all this turmoil is to be grounded in God's Word, to be constantly prayerful, and to be busy doing the work He has called us each to do. That's what we are to do with our gifts and talents, to flourish in them, just like the loaves of bread and fish that supernaturally multiplied and fed thousands of hungry souls!  But we can't humble ourselves and be intentionally loving God wholeheartedly and loving people unconditionally if we don't believe God is in...

Estee Lauder and Egg Salad

Journal Entry  June 24, 2014 Early this morning during my walk/jog workout in our neighborhood in North Georgia, I caught a glimpse of the 10th fairway. There was just enough sunlight piercing the grey clouds to make the dew glisten on the manicured grass. The steep slope of the fairway and the early morning sun reflecting sparkles on the wet grass was reminiscent of something I hadn't thought about in a long time. I was taken back to the time when Mom started a junior golf program in our hometown of Corry, Pennsylvania. 10th fairway. Woodmont Golf & Country Club, Canton, GA.  Oh, it was a very sweet memory that popped in my head as I looked down the glistening fairway this morning. Memories were growing as I recalled details. As young children we'd play very early each Tuesday morning during the summer months. The grass was always dewy when we arrived at the golf course, as it was today when I looked over the fairway. Corry Country Club Junior Golf Program was founded and...

Turning Our Backs on God in the Public Square Isn't Working

Image
"If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."  2 Chronicles 7:14 Turning our backs on God in the Public Square isn't working for the healing of America.  Blaming public prayer in our government schools for our troubles and ruling to remove it hasn't helped anyone. Maybe because God says,  "The fervent prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective"  (James 5:16). Looking to God as our Ultimate Authority isn't why we have a troubled nation, but national authorities decided to take down the 10 Commandments from our government buildings anyway. Wow. God says,  "You shall have no other gods before Me"   (Exodus 20:3).  So whose law is America following and how's all this working for US? Blaming unplanned, inconvenient pregnancies as our troubles and paying abortionists to dissect u...
