"Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles , but to those whom God called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." 1 Corinthians 1:22-25. [After His resurrection] Jesus looked to heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify You. For you granted Him authority over all people that He might give eternal life to all those you have given Him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:1-3) "To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." (Jude 1:25). "I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with you before the worl...
Mrs. Green: The Witness of a Worthy Woman

This photo was taken in 1981 soon after we arrived at the Sovereign Grace Fellowship/Clemson University annual beach retreat. Mrs. Evelyn Green, (center) recently widowed, used to be invited each year with her husband Mr. Lowell Green, as the students' dearly-loved spiritual parents. This year she invited three of her friends from church to share in her joys of beach retreats and loving others! The Witness of a Worthy Woman June 1981 Although Mrs. Green “opens her mouth in wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue” (Prov. 31:25) she is “Evelyn” to no one in our 300-member Chalcedon Presbyterian congregation. There’s too much respect for the 71-year-old, God-fearing woman. “Strength and dignity are her clothing” and “she smiles at the future”(Prov. 31:25) was what I observed about her as one of her three young traveling companions on our way to a four-day Christian retreat. This gathering, one of several organized by the Sovereign Grace Fellowsh...

On display at Christine's Creations on Main Street in Woodstock. During my trip to Historic Downtown Woodstock last week, I decided to give myself a treat -- and a delightful break from months of quarantine -- and stop in to see Christine Blight at the new location of her fabulous "everything for the home" store. It's called Christine's Creations. I've visited the previous location, also on Main Street, countless times over the years to chat briefly with Christine and wander through each of her spectacularly decorated rooms. She uses custom floral arrangements, art, re-purposed furniture, whimsical sayings on pillows and other accessories -- you get the idea. In fact I purchased a large round, pedestal kitchen table from her a few years ago! The wood is painted shabby chic white and I love it! So last week, when I walked into the store I had to stop and take a deep breath. Ah, yes, the freedom of creativity! I felt it immediately. And when Christine walked ...
Natalie's Story

Natalie Brown is my sister from the same mister and another mother. I met her just a few years ago when when thought she was an only child and did not have one living family member on the earth. None of my siblings knew she existed until her ex-husband relentlessly researched family names until he found our Brown family in Corry, Pennsylvania. We got his call on Thanksgiving day when we were all together. We had another sister! The whole conversation was wild, thinking God brought more family member together. She was in Alabama, we all were in Georgia. When they were able to come to meet us in person, she discovered she not only has two brothers and two sisters, but cousins, nieces, nephews. Generations of us live here! It's been a miracle in itself! But Natalie has still has another story to tell about what happens when the Shepherd of the sheep hears the heart-breaking cries of His little lambs. She cried out many times over the past couple of years and He showed her He was with ...
Women Who Follow Jesus Don't Just Rock Cradles

Women who follow Jesus don't just rock cradles. We are meant to rock the world with all the love and hope and Holy Spirit power inside of each one of us. We are a global sisterhood of every tribe, tongue, generation, and nation. We were born to nurture; born to be wild for the glory of God. Women who follow Jesus are fully aware of broken places in their souls and prayerfully run to the Father -- hopefully before they hit rock bottom. Women who follow Jesus have all the privileges of living a supernatural life of the forgiveness of sin, unconditional love, powerful prayers that move mountains, and the grace of God that melts our hearts with His lovingkindness. He provides, protects and keeps all His promises we find in Scripture. Look briefly at sisters Mary and Martha in the book of Luke. Women will shed tears at a sad story, be quicker to hug a friend, are usually trying to feed somebody, and will become a Mama Bear if she even senses danger is near her children or close ...
She Heard About Jesus

"In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us." Ephesians 1:7 Have you heard about Jesus? The woman with the debilitating issue of blood ( Mark 5:25-34 ) surely did. This woman suffered with massive "bleeding for 12 years" (v .25). She "spent all of her money on doctors and they couldn't help her...instead of getting better, she grew worse" (v.26). "When she heard about Jesus" (v. 26) she had a choice. In her frail, sickly condition she could push through the crowds and not let anything or anybody get between her and Jesus. She knew she would have to go into a crowd where people could judge her, or she could fall into that comparison trap or hear the destructive gossip of her neighbors. Maybe she would be held back by the lies of the enemy telling her not to go to Jesus for help. She might be intimidated by the fear of opinions of othe...
