Dynamic Sisters Powered by God!

Well, that's what you are! You radiated again today at the 2nd gathering of That Girl's Lunch at the Frosty Frog Creamery & Cafe!
You all expressed such passion and desire to use your God-given gifts and talents in your businesses and ministries to become change-agents to the troubled world we're living in. Wow.
That's you, Sweet Sisters, and you're obviously powered by Almighty God! Whoa. What a blessing. What an inspiration!
Our devotional theme today was "Imitating Christ's Humility" as we briefly looked at the humble and Spirit-driven lives of Abraham, Moses, Ruth, Boaz, and Esther.
As for us today:
It is important that we take care of what God has given us to do…where we are right now.
- What is your circle of influence right now?
- We each have a job to do: Be light. Serve. Help. Encourage. Use your gifts to do these things.
- Don’t wait to see if it’s “important enough” to fulfill.
- You and I don’t know everything – we only know we are God’s and we are here to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever.
- Just do the thing that is in front of you.
Stop competing and start focusing.
“A kind woman gains respect, a ruthless man gains only wealth.” Proverbs 11:16. You don’t know where He’ll take you when you are willing to do things His way! It's a whole lot more fun -- it's a wild ride!
“She is clothed in strength and dignity and can laugh at the days to come.” Proverbs 31:25 This woman is free from worry and anxiety.
Truett Cathy – he’s very focused. He has to be – he’s a very blessed businessman who refused to keep his Chick-fil-A restaurants open on Sunday. He’s not competing in the sense of what the world thinks is competing…. He’s trusting God and being the best at what God has given him. (Remember from our last month's gathering: he has a mission statement and a life verse.)
God is using your ministry/business to speak to you! Listen to Him. What is He saying? What is He teaching you – about yourself? About other people? About Him?
Calm down and stop knocking yourself out to make a few dollars. Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.
Matthew 6:33: Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you as well.”
"Humility is not weakness. It is strength and confidence that helps business people succeed in competitive cut-throat market. Moses remained humble because he knew God would vindicate him. Moses was busy advancing God’s kingdom.” -- Authors Henry Blackaby and Richard Blackaby, God in the Marketplace.
Yes, Sisters, we know the truth: There is only one Way that works and this Way goes against everything our world preaches. Jesus is the Way. We need to be sharing this good news with others every day. I encourage you to bring a friend with you to our next lunch on March 19 @ 11:30. I also invite you to comment on this blog. I'd love to hear from you. Here's a question for you: Since January 1, 2009, have you been able to grasp a new perspective on the New Year? A New You? A New Job/Company/Ministry? A New Direction? A New Attitude? A New Scripture that has captured your heart and encouraged you?
I thank my God every time I remember you! (Philippians 1:3)
Love & blessings to you!
Polly,
ReplyDeleteYou are such a blessing. I am so glad our father in heaven caused our paths to cross. I had a great time today and have already invited one friend and plan on inviting another.

Hi Polly,
ReplyDeleteLooks like another great turnout! I am so glad I came to the first meeting even though I am not officially in either business or ministry at this time in my life. I felt honored to be apart of such a great group of ladies. I felt encouraged to continue to step out and serve my community in whatever way, however small it may seem.
Here is my current life verse. I took this away from the last year's Bible study from my Walnut Creek group. We studied the book Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow. I highly recommend this as a group study book.
"Live life, then, with a due sense of responsibility, not as (women)who do not know the meaning (and purpose) of life but as those who do. Make the best use of your time, despite all the evils of these days. Don't be vague but grasp firmly what you know to be the will of the Lord." Ephesians 5:15-17
