Truth or Lie? Open My Eyes, LORD!

God had to take me through a long journey through a very dark valley to tenderly teach me more truths about who He is and what He wants for His beloved daughters and sons.

He wants us to love the truth because He is the Truth. "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6).

Truth is freedom for God's children. "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32).

Jesus made this truth very plain when He was taken prisoner and set before a spiritually blinded Pilate, who said to Jesus, "'You are a king, then!' Jesus answered, 'You are right in saying I am a king In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me." (John 18:37)

When Jesus says He is the way, it's every way: the way to truth, the way to everlasting life, the way to joy, the way to freedom, the way to unconditional love, the way to peace, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness, self-control---all of those glorious, beautiful fruits of the Spirit of God listed in Galatians 5:22! Check it out!

Think about this. 

It is written in the Bible that "The devil is a liar and the father of lies. Lying is his native language." (John 8:44). Do you believe it?

What about this one? 

"You dear children have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." 

(1 John 4:4). He says as His children, we are overcomers! Do you believe the truth and power of God's word?

We won't find any freedom at all in being ensnared in the devil's stronghold. Nope. He wants to take every Christian as his captive. Held captive by unbelief in God. Yep. That's how we get caught in the snare. We let something or someone get between us and God.

It could be social media comparison trap, materialism, idolatry, celebrity cravings, selfie obsessions, jealousy, unforgiveness, etc., that becomes the wedge between us and our relationship with our Savior.

We won't know when we are believing the lies he tries to download into our minds unless we know truth. We need to know the truth of God's word. 

Like this power-packed verse: "I know that the LORD is great, our LORD is greater than all gods." (Psalm 135:5). Do you believe it?

Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come that you might have life, and have it in abundance." (John 10:10).

If we are spending faithful, intentional, daily quiet times with our Lord...Bible study, fervent prayer, and listening for His voice to speak to our hearts, we will learn truth and know truth and we can live in the freedom He came to give us!

One of the most powerful weapons in our arsenal is prayer! I learned to fervently pray for God to "open my eyes to the truth" and included that plea everyday. And what happened? He began to open my eyes and give me deep insight into many things in my life and in Him! I encourage you to try it and see how He will amaze you and bless your socks off, too!

Yes, I wrote at the beginning of this post that God took me on a long journey through a very dark valley and he tenderly taught me. The reason I said tenderly taught me is because He was holding my hand the whole time and led me out of that valley into the light again!

You see, the LORD really did "fight for me like a Mighty Warrior" and my devilish "persecutors really did not prevail." (Jeremiah 20:11). 

God did.
