Our Humility Can Cure the 2020 Culture Chaos
"The disciples came to Jesus and asked, 'Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?' He called a little child and had him stand among them. And He said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes Me."
Matthew 18:1-5
"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures...but He gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
James 4:1-5.
"Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first."
Matthew 19:29-30
On June 19, 2020, while the 2020 Culture Chaos in America was remaining red hot, I once again ran to God in fervent prayer because I've been overwhelmed. And while I was praying for the world, and the sad condition of all the unrest; repenting of my own sins, and praising Him for His lovingkindness, my mind became flooded with the presence of the Holy Spirit. He was speaking to my heart. And of course, I scribbled thoughts down as fast as I could keep up. He was showing me how to pray specifically: to pray for the digging up of the root of our pain in our country.
I was planning on holding all of this in my heart and prayers -- until I was prompted that I couldn't be silent about it any longer. So, here it is:
"The root problem and emphasis in America is not race relations. But it is a heartbreaking symptom of what's really wrong in this country that I love! The root problem in America is not the millions of babies being killed by abortion. The root of our problem is not sexual orientation, either. The problem in America today is a lack of humility in the hearts of its people.
The healing of America will only come when the church--the people of God -- HUMBLE OURSELVES, repent and confess our sins, turn from our wicked ways and cry out to God. Obviously we haven't been doing that very faithfully because God promises to "heal our land" if we faithfully pray in this way.
Slavery would not have started if the white man saw a black man and treated him with humility and respect because he knows they're both created in the image of God! There would be honor among men no matter what the race or nationality.
Sex trafficking; the kidnapping, raping, and selling of hundreds of thousands innocent young people all over the world. This is another horrific symptom of our root problem. Truly humble people are not greedy enough to treat humans made in the image of God like animals.
God is a God of mercy, forgiveness and love. He has all authority in heaven and earth. He is in control of all things. All the time. He can change our hearts and our culture and the fruit would be peace and prosperity.
But we have to do something. "If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves (with child-like faith), and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
There is nowhere else to run for help and hope and healing. Only God. No one is greater. No one has more love. No one is more powerful. No one has more wisdom.
God offers us supernatural gifts like unconditional love, grace, forgiveness, and the power to move mountains through our prayers. He offers us spiritual gifts inside of us that money cannot buy: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. (Galatians 5:22).
Everything that would fill the longing heart of a child!
For the glory of God,
💖Polly
